We are proud to announce Knollwood School's 2012 Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Lindsey Nakayama. As a School Psychologist, Mrs. Nakayama supports many of Knollwood's students, parents and staff.  We appreciate all Mrs. Nakayama does for our community and congratulate on this award. 

Read an interview we had with Mrs. Nakayama below:
 

Question: Where and when were you born?
I was born on December 15 in Tiffin, Ohio.

Q: What is the name of your elementary school?
I went to Hopewell-Loudon in Bascom, Ohio for Kindergarten - 12th grade.

Q: Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher was my 9th grade and 12th grade English teacher, Mr. Wheeler.  He made this subject so much fun and showed how literature can translate into other mediums, like movies and music.  His classes helped develop my love of reading.

Q: What do you like most about Knollwood School?
The thing that I like most about Knollwood is that I get to work with such caring professionals who are dedicated to enriching the lives of the children they teach.

Q: What do you like most about your job?
I love that I get to come to work every day and help children and teach them skills they can apply to the classroom and beyond.  Every day brings something new, challenging and exciting and I love that about my job.

Q: What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is blue.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
My favorite thing to do in my spare time is read.

Q: What is the best advice you can give young people?
Never give up, even when things seem too difficult and overwhelming.
Be kind to others - learn to celebrate the unique things that make us who we are.

Q: What is your favorite book?
I don't know that I have a favorite book but the books I can read over and over are the Harry Potter books.

Q:  If you could meet anyone in history, who would it be?
If I could meet anyone it would be Martin Luther King, Jr.  He is such an important figure in modern history and helped to create the world we live in today.

Q: What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal is any kind of seafood dish.

Q: What is your favorite vacation?
My favorite vacations have been to Thailand and Portugal.  I love visiting other places and experiencing different cultures and ways of life.

Q: Do you have anything else you’d like to say?
I love my job and am so thankful for the support of my peers and fellow educators.
